How It Works
The formula divides current weight by the proportion of adult size already achieved at the current age. For a medium breed, adult size is typically reached at 52 weeks. A puppy at 16 weeks is approximately 16/52 = 31% of the way to maturity. Dividing current weight by 0.31 gives the predicted adult weight.
Maturity age varies by breed size: small breeds mature at around 52 weeks, large at 78 weeks, and giant breeds at 104 weeks. A realistic range of plus or minus 12% is applied because genetics, nutrition, and sex all affect final adult weight.
