What Is the Newborn Puppy Feeding Guide Calculator?
Calculate milk replacer amounts for newborn puppies by weight and age — for orphaned puppies or those supplementing with weak nursing.
Newborn puppies that cannot nurse from their mother — or need supplementation due to a weak latch, large litter, or unwell dam — require very precise milk replacer feeding. Too little causes failure to thrive; too much causes aspiration and diarrhoea. This calculator provides the correct volume per feed based on the puppy's weight and age.
Every result is based on published veterinary research and breed-size-specific growth data — not generic averages. This tool is completely free, works instantly in your browser, and requires no account or sign-up.

How It Works
Newborn puppies have a tiny stomach capacity — approximately 4ml per 100g of body weight per feed. Nutritional requirements are approximately 22ml of puppy milk replacer per 100g of body weight per day. Feeding frequency is every 2 hours in the first week, reducing to every 3-4 hours by weeks 2-3. Weaning begins at 3-4 weeks. All volumes are for puppy-specific milk replacer (not cow's milk, goat's milk, or human infant formula — these are nutritionally inappropriate for puppies).
