How It Works
The puppy water baseline is approximately 70ml per kilogram of bodyweight per day — higher than the adult baseline of 55ml/kg because puppies have faster metabolic rates, higher surface-area-to-volume ratios (losing water faster through respiration and skin), and are building body tissue which requires water.
The total is adjusted upward for active puppies and hot weather, then split between water from food (wet food contributes significantly — up to 80% of water needs for puppies on wet food) and water that must be actively drunk. The result tells you how much water your puppy needs to drink from their bowl each day on top of what they get from food.
