This calculator interprets five key electrolytes — sodium, potassium, chloride, total calcium (albumin-corrected), and implicitly bicarbonate through the anion gap. Each value is compared to the established canine reference range and flagged with clinical context for common causes of each abnormality.

Calcium is corrected for albumin because albumin binds approximately 40% of total calcium. Low albumin causes falsely low total calcium. Corrected calcium = measured total Ca + 0.8 × (3.5 − albumin in g/dL). Ionised calcium measurement is more accurate but requires specific equipment.
