BARF Diet Puppy Calculator
Plan a biologically appropriate raw food diet for puppies with growth-stage-adjusted ratios of meat, bone, organ, and plant matter.
What Is the BARF Diet Puppy Calculator?
Plan a biologically appropriate raw food diet for puppies with growth-stage-adjusted ratios of meat, bone, organ, and plant matter.
Puppy BARF differs from adult BARF in two critical ways — higher total food percentage and higher bone content for calcium. This calculator applies the correct puppy-specific BARF ratios at every age from 6 weeks through to transition to adult feeding.
Every result is based on published veterinary research and breed-size-specific growth data — not generic averages. This tool is completely free, works instantly in your browser, and requires no account or sign-up.

How It Works
The puppy BARF ratio differs from the adult ratio to account for higher calcium needs during bone development. The bone percentage is 17% for puppies versus 10% for adults. Muscle meat is slightly lower at 60% versus 70%. The plant component is retained from standard BARF — vegetables at 8%, fruit at 3%, seeds at 2% — providing fibre and phytonutrients that support developing gut bacteria.
The total percentage of bodyweight is higher than adults — up to 8% for very young puppies — because growth is metabolically expensive. This percentage steps down as the puppy ages, mirroring the reduction in growth rate. By the time they transition to adult feeding at 12-24 months depending on size, the percentage and ratios both shift to adult BARF guidelines.
