Endotracheal tube internal diameter (ID) in dogs is primarily weight-based, with adjustments for brachycephalic breeds (who often require smaller tubes due to tracheal hypoplasia) and giant breeds. A commonly used formula is: tube ID (mm) = (0.11 × body weight in kg) + 4.5 for average breeds. Brachycephalic breeds often require 1–2 sizes smaller than calculated. Always have one size larger and one size smaller available. Cuffed tubes are standard for dogs above approximately 5kg.
