How It Works
This calculator uses the RER (Resting Energy Requirement) formula: 70 × (weight kg)^0.75. We multiply by an activity factor and age modifier to get the Daily Energy Requirement (DER), then convert to grams using your food's calorie density.
Puppies need about 2.5× their RER. Active dogs need 1.2–1.6× their RER. Seniors need slightly less. The cup measurement assumes approximately 85g per cup of standard kibble — actual cup weight varies by brand.
