What Is the BARF Diet Calculator for Dogs?
Plan a biologically appropriate raw food diet with the correct ratios of meat, bone, organ, and plant matter.
The BARF (Biologically Appropriate Raw Food) diet goes beyond basic raw feeding by including plant matter — vegetables, fruit, and seeds — alongside meat, bone, and organ. This calculator gives you the complete daily breakdown for your dog.
Every result is based on published veterinary research and breed-size-specific growth data — not generic averages. This tool is completely free, works instantly in your browser, and requires no account or sign-up.

How It Works
BARF was developed by veterinary surgeon Dr Ian Billinghurst to mimic the evolutionary diet of dogs more closely than standard raw feeding. The BARF ratio adds a plant component to the standard prey model: 70% muscle meat, 10% raw bone, 10% organ, 7% vegetables, 2% fruit, 1% seeds and nuts.
Plant matter provides fibre, phytonutrients, and antioxidants. Vegetables should be lightly blended or cooked to improve digestibility. Fruit should be given in small amounts due to sugar content — avoid grapes, raisins, and xylitol-containing products.
