How It Works
Diabetic dogs benefit from consistent meal amounts fed at the same times as (or just before) their insulin injections. This creates a predictable glucose spike that the insulin can address effectively. Inconsistent meal sizes create unpredictable glucose swings that are much harder to manage.
The calculator uses a slightly reduced DER multiplier (0.9) because many diabetic dogs are managed at maintenance or mild calorie restriction.
