How It Works

Anticoagulant rodenticides (the most common type) inhibit vitamin K epoxide reductase, blocking the recycling of vitamin K and preventing synthesis of clotting factors II, VII, IX, and X. Second-generation anticoagulants (brodifacoum, bromadiolone) are far more potent and persistent than first-generation (warfarin), requiring vitamin K1 treatment for 4–6 weeks.
